Yes. I survived...
my first Christmas. It wasn't so bad. But then my mum did a lot of the work. And everyone pitched in. And tables and chairs had to be bought along so there was little pre-setup to be done by me. I have this glorious pergola area down the side of my house that continues around the back so we all sat outside. And when the rains came it was all fine and dandy.
Before I moved...
in I wasn't so sure about the pergola. It does somewhat block the light into my kitchen table area but it turns out it's a glorious spot to sit to have my morning coffee as the gap between the house and the Stratco roofing lets a nice sliver of warm sun through that lands exactly where I have my outdoor cafe setting.
There were some...
comments about the Christmas tree. "It's not really Christmassy is it?". What's not Christmassy about smiley faces and thongs? Last year there wasn't a tree. So the family should feel blessed that I even bothered really. And if you look hard enough you will see that is Santa impaled upon the top.

There's always someone to make a dig about *something*, isn't there? Urg.
That pergola area is great - you could buy a boat and store it under there ;)
