sizzle sizzle...

How in the...
hell do people survive without air conditioning? It reached 34°C in my house late yesterday afternoon. I was beyond even sitting quietly and reading my Bill Bryson book it was that damn hot in here. I had to drag my hot pink recliner into the kitchen (the coolest room in the house which means it was possibly 32° there instead of the 34° in the lounge) and resort to giving myself a sponge bath with cool water and a flannel. Apparently last night's temperature didn't get down much below 30° so it's pretty clear that my house was at least that all through the night. And here I was thinking this house would remain cooler than my old fibro cement house with the colourbond tin roof. Not so. Today we are in for another hot one so reluctantly I will head out and do some more shopping so I don't have to sit here on the verge of passing out. At least the car and shops have air con.

Today is my...
last day of R&R. Tragically I have to return to work tomorrow just when the temperature is about to drop down to a more realistic number. I could use another week to just laze about and do a whole lot of nothing. I think in order to ease back into it I will make it a goal to do very little actual work during my first day back.

I have begun...
looking into my trip to Europe which I hope to do later this year. I even suggested to my mum that she may want to join me as she's been trying to go for the past few years but can't get anyone to go with her. She wants to do one of those European river cruises. I don't. My latest thoughts are to concentrate on a tour of France and Italy and maybe finish off with some time in London, either on another tour or by myself. Thus far she seems keen to join me.
